Fellowship, Fun and Ministry at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Lititz
September brings several opportunities for Bible study, fellowship, Christian encouragement, and service at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Lititz, PA. As a Lutheran congregation serving Lititz, Lancaster, Manheim, and the surrounding Lancaster County community, we are grateful for the many ways members gather around God’s Word and support one another in their daily vocations. These events are not simply additions to the church calendar, but opportunities to grow together as brothers and sisters in Christ. Women of Mount Calvary Bible Class
The Women of Mount Calvary will gather for Bible Class and fellowship on Saturday, September 19, from 11:00 AM–12:30 PM. The class will study the Holy Scriptures, providing an opportunity for women of the congregation to spend time together in God’s Word. All women are welcome to attend regardless of how much previous Bible study experience they may have. A Bible class is not a test of how much someone already knows, but an opportunity to listen, learn, ask questions, and grow in the faith together.
This gathering also offers a valuable opportunity for Christian fellowship among women of different ages and stages of life. Scripture repeatedly presents faithful women who received God’s Word, served their families and neighbors, encouraged other believers, and bore witness to His promises. Our hope is that this time together will strengthen women in their own God-given vocations and deepen their understanding of the Scriptures. Sunday School Sign-Ups Are Open
Sunday School sign-ups are now open at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Lititz, PA! We encourage families to register their children as we prepare for another year of learning God’s Word together. Sunday School helps children grow in their knowledge of Holy Scripture, learn the great accounts of God’s saving work, and understand how the entire Bible points us to Jesus Christ. It also provides an important opportunity for parents and the congregation to work together in nurturing children in the Christian faith. We look forward to welcoming both returning families and those joining Sunday School for the first time! Classes available from Pre-K to 12th Grade students.
Men’s Bible Study Breakfast
The Men’s Bible Study Breakfast will meet at 7:30 AM on Saturday, September 26, at Mount Calvary. Men of the congregation are invited to enjoy a hearty breakfast, good conversation, and time together in God’s Word. These gatherings provide an opportunity for Christian men to encourage one another while considering the responsibilities God has given them within their homes, congregation, workplaces, and communities. Fellowship is strengthened when men gather not only around a meal, but around the Scriptures that shape their lives in Christ.
Christian manhood is not defined by cultural stereotypes, personal achievement, or worldly success. Rather, Christians are called to receive their identity from Christ and faithfully serve in the vocations God has given them. The Men’s Bible Study Breakfast offers a setting in which men can study, discuss, pray, and support one another as brothers in Christ. Whether you have attended regularly or have never participated before, you are encouraged to join us on September 26.
Family Group and Young at Heart Potluck
Later that same day, the Church Family Group and the Young at Heart will meet at Mount Calvary at 4:00 PM for a potluck supper and discussion-based study. Participants are invited to bring a dish or two to share as we enjoy supper and fellowship together. Following the meal, the children will be excused for organized playtime while the adults continue their discussion and study. This gathering is designed to encourage relationships across generations within the life of the congregation.
One of the blessings of congregational life is the opportunity for Christians of different ages to know and encourage one another. Families benefit from the wisdom and experience of older members, while younger members bring energy and new opportunities for service and fellowship. These relationships remind us that the Church is not simply a collection of individuals attending the same service, but the body of Christ living together in faith and love. Facility Use Requests at Mount Calvary
Members planning church-sponsored or personal events at Mount Calvary are asked to contact Liz Velkly in the church office to obtain a Mount Calvary Lutheran Church Facilities Use Request Form. Once completed, the form should be returned to the church office for review by the Trustees. This process is an important part of coordinating the many activities that take place throughout the year and helps prevent scheduling conflicts. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation in helping the congregation use its facilities in an orderly and responsible manner.
Christian Funeral Planning Resources
Mount Calvary also provides a Funeral Planning Packet for members who would like to prepare in advance for a Christian funeral. The packet includes a funeral planning sheet that can be returned to the church office for safekeeping, suggested Scripture readings and hymns, and helpful articles from The Lutheran Witness. Thoughtful funeral planning can be a meaningful act of Christian confession, allowing members to express clearly their desire for Christ’s promises of forgiveness, resurrection, and eternal life to remain central at the time of death. Both electronic and paper copies of the packet are available.
Members with questions about funeral preparation are encouraged to speak with Pastor Seifferlein or contact the church office. Planning ahead can also be a kindness to family members who might otherwise need to make many decisions during a difficult time. A Christian funeral is ultimately centered not on human accomplishment, but upon Christ crucified and risen for sinners. These resources are offered to help members thoughtfully prepare with that confession firmly in view.
Supporting Missions Through Special Mission Offerings
Mount Calvary continues to support mission work through the yellow “Special Mission Offering” envelopes included in members’ annual offering boxes. One envelope is provided for each month, and all gifts received through these envelopes during each quarter are designated for selected mission efforts. This provides members with a regular opportunity to support the proclamation of the Gospel and other ministry work beyond our local congregation. Mission giving is one way the congregation participates in the wider work of Christ’s Church.
For the third quarter, special mission offerings will be divided among Revive, Philadelphia Ministry, Slippery Rock, and Pittsburgh Area College Ministry. These ministries represent opportunities to support Gospel outreach and Christian care in a variety of settings. We are grateful for the generosity of Mount Calvary members who continue to support mission work faithfully. Through prayer, financial support, and encouragement, our congregation in Lititz remains connected to the broader mission of the Church.
