Two Divine Services in May at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church
The Lord continues to show His kindness to Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in ways both humbling and encouraging. In recent months, we have welcomed many new faces—individuals and families seeking a faithful place to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to receive His gifts. In response to this growth, and in gratitude for what God is doing among us, Mount Calvary will offer two Sunday Divine Services throughout the month of May as a trial period.
Why Mount Calvary Is Adding a Second Service
This decision has not been made lightly. The Church has always gathered around the preaching of God’s Word and the administration of the Sacraments, for it is here that Christ has promised to be present for His people. As Lutherans confess, the Church is not defined by numbers or programs, but by where the Gospel is rightly preached and the Sacraments are rightly administered. Yet when the Lord gathers more people to hear and receive these gifts, it is fitting for the congregation to make room for them.

Sunday Schedule for the Month of May
During the month of May, the Sunday schedule will be as follows:
7:45 AM – Divine Service
9:30 AM – Bible Study (Youth and Adult)
11:00 AM – Divine Service
This schedule provides additional opportunities for worship while maintaining the central rhythm of Word and Sacrament. Both Divine Services will be reverent, historic, and centered on Christ, with rich hymnody and faithful preaching. The Bible Study hour remains an important part of congregational life, where both youth and adults are instructed in the Scriptures and strengthened in the faith.
A Trial Month of Two-Service Sundays
Because this is a trial for the month of May, the congregation will take time in June to reflect and evaluate. Surveys will be distributed to gather feedback from members and visitors alike. Thoughtful consideration will be given before any long-term decision is made regarding continuing with two services on Sundays.
June Schedule Will Return to One Sunday Service
In June, the schedule will return to a single Sunday Divine Service:
9:00 AM – Divine Service
10:30 AM – Bible Study
This rhythm has long served the congregation well, and the temporary adjustment in May allows for careful discernment as the Lord continues to shape the life of the parish. The goal is not simply to add another service time, but to listen carefully, serve faithfully, and make wise decisions for the good of Christ’s people.
A Growing Hunger for the Gospel
What we are witnessing is not merely increased attendance, but something deeper. There is, in our time, a growing hunger for the Gospel rightly preached and the Sacraments properly administered. Many are seeking more than activity or novelty. They are longing for the truth of God’s Word, for reverent worship, and for the comfort of Christ’s promises. At Mount Calvary, we remain committed to the historic Christian faith as confessed in the Lutheran tradition, and by God’s grace many are finding refuge here.

A Humble Home for Christ’s People
Mount Calvary does not seek to be flashy or trendy. It seeks to be faithful. And yet it is often in that very faithfulness that the Lord provides a home for those who are weary, searching, or newly awakened to the riches of the Church’s life. The growth we are experiencing is not something we boast in, but something we receive with gratitude and humility. Christ continues to gather His people, and we are thankful to serve as a place where His gifts are given.
An Invitation to Visit Mount Calvary
If you are new to the area, returning to church, or searching for a congregation where the Gospel is preached clearly and the Sacraments are given according to Christ’s institution, you are warmly invited to join us this May. Whether you attend the early or late service, you will find the same Christ, the same promises, and the same gifts given for you. We give thanks to God for His continued blessings and entrust this season of growth to His care. May He guide Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in humility, faithfulness, and love as we seek to receive His gifts and share them with all who come through our doors.
