Woman’s Bible Study

Please join the Women of Mount Calvary for a Bible Class and time together on Saturday, August 12 from 2-3:30 PM. This month we continue our study of the Gospel of St. John as we dig in deeper to chapter 7 as we consider Jesus’ attendance at the Feast of Tabernacles. All women of the congregation are welcome to attend this class no matter what their knowledge is of the bible. Please speak with Mary Anne Sylvester or Deb Lynch for more information.

August 13 Worship and Bible Class Focus

We gather this Sunday to hear Jesus weeping over Jerusalem and observe His cleansing of the temple. Jesus cleanses the temple that it might be a fit place for His preaching and dwelling. May the Lord cleanse our hearts and remove all that offends, that we might be a fit dwelling for His Word and presence. You may prepare by reading the Propers of the day.

Old Testament: Jeremiah 7:1-11

Psalm: Psalm 92:1-15

Epistle: 1 Corinthians 12:2-11

Gospel: Luke 19:41-48

O’er Jerusalem Thou weepest
In compassion, dearest Lord,
Love divine, of love the deepest,
O’er Thine erring Israel poured,
Crieth out in bitter moan:
“O loved city, hadst thou known
This thy day of visitation,
Thou wouldst not reject salvation.”

Join us for Adult Bible Class in the Evangelism Wing following the worship service! After considering original sin which all mankind has inherited, Paul continues in Romans chapter 6 to speak of the new life that we have in Christ. Do we continue in sin because we are born in sin? We do not. Such would be to deny what we have received in our Baptism.
