Confirmation Sunday on June 7
A special highlight this month will be Confirmation Sunday on June 7. Confirmation marks an important milestone in the life of the Church as young Christians publicly confess the faith into which they were baptized and catechized. It is a joyful reminder that Christ continues to preserve His Church from generation to generation through His Word. As the congregation gathers around these confirmands, we give thanks for faithful Christian parents, teachers, pastors, and the work of the Holy Spirit through catechesis. Confirmation Sunday is also a beautiful witness to families near Lancaster, PA who are seeking a church that takes Christian teaching, Scripture, and the Small Catechism seriously.
Dining Out Night in Lebanon
Fellowship is also an important part of congregational life. On Tuesday, June 2 at 6:00 PM, Mount Calvary’s Dining Out Night will gather at Miners Pub at Iron Valley, located at 201 Iron Valley Drive in Lebanon. These evenings provide an opportunity to enjoy food, conversation, laughter, and friendship outside the regular church schedule. Christian fellowship strengthens the bonds we share as brothers and sisters in Christ and reminds us that the Church is not merely an organization, but a family gathered by the Gospel. A sign-up sheet is available in the narthex, and those with questions may contact Sarnai Miller for more information.
Vacation Bible School Every Wednesday Evening in June
Throughout June, families and children are invited to participate in Vacation Bible School each Wednesday evening from 6:00–8:00 PM. This year’s VBS theme focuses on the rich hymnody of the Christian Church. If you are looking for Vacation Bible School near Lancaster, PA or VBS in Lititz, PA, Mount Calvary welcomes your family to join us. For nearly two thousand years, Christians have confessed the faith through hymns that proclaim Christ crucified and risen for sinners. From the ancient hymns of the early Church, such as Saint Ambrose’s “Savior of the Nations, Come,” to the beloved Lutheran chorales of Martin Luther, including “A Mighty Fortress Is Our God,” generations of Christians have sung God’s Word and carried it in their hearts.
Each VBS evening will include Bible lessons, music, crafts, activity time, and fellowship. The first evening, June 4, will begin at 5:45 PM with a kickoff meal shared together before activities begin. The final evening, June 24, will conclude with a special ice cream treat following the evening service.
Tuesday Prayer Service and Wednesday Divine Service
In addition to Sunday worship, weekly Prayer Service continues each Tuesday evening at 8:00 PM, offering a quiet and reverent opportunity to gather before the Lord in prayer. Midweek Divine Service continues every Wednesday evening at 7:00 PM, providing another opportunity to receive God’s gifts and encouragement throughout the week. All congregational members are encouraged to join the Wednesday Divine Service at 7:00 PM, even if they are not participating directly in VBS. These midweek services are a great blessing for those seeking traditional Lutheran worship in Lancaster County during the week.
Patriotic Children’s Parade on June 27
June also includes a special outreach opportunity on Saturday, June 27, from 9:00–10:00 AM. As our nation celebrates its 250th birthday, Mount Calvary will host a Patriotic Children’s Parade for both church families and neighborhood friends. Children are encouraged to decorate their riding toys and themselves in red, white, and blue as they participate in a festive parade along the church walkway. Following the parade, families and neighbors will gather on the patio for refreshments and conversation. This event provides a wonderful opportunity to build relationships, welcome neighbors, and demonstrate Christian hospitality within the Lititz and Lancaster County community. Volunteers and baked goods are welcome as the Board of Witness and Outreach helps facilitate this joyful event.
