Lutheran Church Near Lancaster PA at Mount Calvary
Out of love and care for the congregation, Pastor Seifferlein and the elders have decided to cancel our regularly scheduled Divine Service on Sunday, January 25, 2026, due to the significant snowstorm forecasted for our area. In its place, we will gather for the Divine Service on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 3:00 PM.
This decision has been made to ensure the safety of our members while still preserving the opportunity to gather around the Lord’s gifts of Word and Sacrament. Please note that Adult Bible Class and Sunday School will not be held on Saturday. This will be a single, unified worship service for the congregation.
Our Saturday Divine Service will observe The Conversion of the Apostle Paul, a powerful celebration of God’s saving grace. Scripture testifies, “He who used to persecute us is now preaching the faith he once tried to destroy” (Galatians 1:23). Paul’s conversion is a dramatic reminder that salvation is not achieved by human effort or decision. The bondage of sin makes saving faith impossible, but even this is no obstacle for the grace of our Lord.
BIBLICAL, TRADITIONAL, AUTHENTIC
CHURCH
Through Baptism, the gift of the Holy Spirit, and the hearing of Christ’s Word, Paul’s blindness was lifted and his ears were opened. He would later confess that everything he once prized was “rubbish” compared to the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus (Philippians 3:8). With Paul, we rejoice in the forgiveness of sins and the eternal life that is ours in Christ. Members are encouraged to prepare by reading the Propers of the Day.
This service will also be a joyful occasion for our congregation. Mr. Charlie Humphreville will be baptized, confirmed, and received as a new member, and Ms. Karen Hoffer will be received as a new member. Additionally, if enough children are present, we will celebrate the Farewell to the Alleluia at the conclusion of the service.
Because not all members regularly access or read email, please help spread the word. If you know, or suspect, someone who may not receive this announcement, please call them to make sure they know about the Saturday service at 3:00 PM.
Finally, as the storm approaches, we ask everyone to remain attentive to the needs of others. Please check in on Mercy Care members, shut-ins, and neighbors, ensuring they have heat, food, and necessary supplies. Road conditions and closures may last longer than expected. We look forward to seeing you Saturday, January 24, at 3:00 PM, as we gather safely to receive the Lord’s gifts together.
