Join Christmas Services Near Lancaster Pa
Christmas at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church is a time when the ancient story of Christ’s incarnation comes alive through Scripture, song, and sacrament. For many in our community, whether near Lancaster, Lititz, or Lebanon, the arrival of Christmas is an invitation to rest in the grace of God and to hear again the Good News of salvation. This year, we rejoiced together in three distinct and beautiful services that proclaimed Christ’s birth from different angles: Christmas Eve Lessons and Carols, Christmas Eve Candlelight Service, and the Christmas Day Festive Service. We are pleased to share the audio recordings from all three services so that you may revisit these moments or experience them for the first time.

Christmas Eve Lessons and Carols 4:00 PM
Our Christmas Eve Lessons and Carols service is a beloved tradition that unfolds the story of salvation through Scripture readings and sacred song. This service traces God’s promise from the fall in Genesis through the prophetic voice of Isaiah and culminates in the birth narrative of Luke and Matthew. Each reading is paired with beloved hymns and carols that reflect the Church’s devotion to the Incarnate Word. Listeners will hear familiar hymns such as “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel,” “Once in Royal David’s City,” and “Angels We Have Heard on High” sung with reverent devotion. The service draws us into the unfolding drama of God’s redemptive plan and reminds us that Christmas is not merely a sentimental memory but the fulfillment of ancient promises.
Christmas Eve Candlelight Service 8:00 PM
The Christmas Eve Candlelight Service at 8:00 PM brings a more intimate and contemplative expression of the Nativity. As candles are lit and the sanctuary grows darker, the light of Christ becomes visible in a profound way. The service centers on the familiar narrative from Luke’s Gospel: the angelic announcement to the shepherds, the humble manger scene, and the joyful response of the faithful. This service emphasizes the Gospel that Christ is the true Light who shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. Hymns such as “Silent Night” and “O Holy Night” invite us to reflect on Christ’s humble birth and the peace He brings. The candlelight moment, when each worshiper’s candle is lit from the Christ candle, symbolizes the spread of the Gospel as light shared from one heart to another.
Christmas Day Festive Service 9:00 AM
On Christmas Day at 9:00 AM, Mount Calvary gathered for a Festive Service of the Divine Service, rejoicing in the birth of the Savior with full liturgical joy. This service is marked by the proclamation of the Nativity Gospel, the sermon that centers on Christ’s saving presence, and hearty congregational singing of Christmas carols. Here the Church celebrates the Incarnation not as an isolated event, but as the heart of salvation history: God becoming man that we might be made partakers of the divine nature. Hymns such as “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing” and “Joy to the World” ring with festive praise, echoing centuries of Christian confession that Jesus Christ is Lord.
