Advent Services Near Lancaster PA
Join us in Advent prayer as we study Paul’s second epistle to the Thessalonians where he addresses concerns they had about the end and return of Christ. He comforts them by speaking of the final judgment of their persecutors (chapter 1), urges patience as they wait for the man of lawlessness to come (chapter 2), and warns them not to be lulled into a sense of complacency as was taking place with some (chapter 3). Our services will be held each Wednesday during Advent (Dec. 3, 10, 17) at 7 PM (the order of Evening Prayer will be used). Advent Soup Dinners will be served in the evangelism wing beforehand from 5:45-6:30 PM.)

Our King comes. That is the message as we begin this first Sunday of the Church Year. We do not have a God who leaves us alone in our sin and in our suffering. He comes to rescue and deliver. Join us this Sunday as we hear of Jesus triumphant march into Jerusalem as we join the crowds, sing our praises, and bow down before us. “Hosanna!” we sing. “Save us! Now!”

This year, our midweek Advent services will lead us through St. Paul’s Second Epistle to the Thessalonians, a letter written to Christians wrestling with confusion and concern about the end times. Paul speaks with pastoral clarity and comfort. These themes; hope, endurance, vigilance, and trust do speak directly to the heart of Advent. They remind us that the Lord who once came in humility now comes to us in Word and Sacrament and will come again in glory on the Last Day.
Mount Calvary Church will hold Advent Services each Wednesday, December 3, 10, and 17, at 7:00 PM, using the contemplative and beautiful Order of Evening Prayer. Before each service, we invite you to enjoy a warm meal and fellowship at our Advent Soup Dinners, served in the Evangelism Wing from 5:45–6:30 PM.
