Updates From Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Lititz PA
Campaign Fulfillment: A LETTER FROM THE FULFILLMENT TEAM
First Impressions – Our first impression when peering into our newly renovated sanctuary from the narthex doors is reverence and awe. The Mount Calvary team, the interior designer, Lynn Godshall of GCI Design Inc. and Arthur Funk & Sons Inc. have succeeded in creating an inspiring house of worship.
Our second observation is the quietness of the sanctuary while we worship in temporary quarters. Certainly, it soon will be filled with worship and praise but much of the time our new sanctuary will be a place of stillness, solitude and restfulness. This contrasts with the mundane driving force of the project. Removing worn out equipment; tearing out and replacing leaking pipes and moldy drywall. The heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) project has morphed into a project creating an inspired reverent place of worship.
Future Longings – We look forward to the installation of new chancel furniture and stained glass lightbox, both of which will magnify the visual impact and rightfully focus our attention on our Lord and Savior in His house of worship. We look forward to the relocation and illumination of our baptismal font to remind us of the gift of grace as we enter the sanctuary. May we never simply pass by the font without remembering.
We look forward to a refurbished and improved organ to help lead and inspire our worship. We look forward to pews with kneeling benches which will reinforce humility and deference instead of prideful self-centeredness as we confess our sinfulness. Here in this place, we will continue to receive the Light of Christ and receive and become the Light that lights the world.
