SUNDAY SCHOOL & YOUTH ACTIVITIES

Sunday School – Teachers and members who interact with children and youth are required to participate in an excellent program through the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod called MinistrySafe to track background clearances and provide training. See Liz Velkly (Safe Church Coordinator) or Nancy Marshall (Chairperson of the Board of Education) if you missed the e-mail sent in June.

Youth – David-Paul Schultze is busy teaching the youth this summer and planning social activities. Thanks, D-P for keeping our kids together during the summer for some fun fellowship along with learning God’s Word.

VBS 2024 – We wrapped up our VBS learning experience about David and the Psalms on Wednesday, June 26. We learned many aspects of David, particularly his influence on music in our worship services. And we had fun learning! We started the evening with an activity, a music session led by Gabriel Edwards, and worship together in Evening Prayer. We learned to sing Psalm 149, Hymn #803 Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee, Luther’s Evening Prayer, and the meaning of the 3rd Article.

Did you know that the psalms fit into categories? We learned that, too. They are: Confession – God forgive me!, Thanksgiving – Thanks God!, Lamentation – Why God?, Petition – Help me LORD, Wisdom – Teach me LORD, and Praise Songs – and we learned to say- “ALLELUIA.” Read Psalm 149 and you will know which category that would fit into. We share joy with others. When we praise, it gets others excited. We praise the LORD. Everyone who attended our VBS and Evening Prayer grew in their knowledge of our loving Father and His Son.
