Summer Travels – With the school year concluded, many of you will be traveling. Summer proves a wonderful time to visit loved ones or take the family on an adventure. If you find yourself in one of these situations and need a place to attend the Divine Service while you are away, remember this: Not all Lutheran Church Missouri Synod churches are the same as Mount Calvary which is okay. What I mean by this is that not every congregation has the same chanting as us, nor do they have the same quality of music, nor does every Church use vestments as we do. Again, this is okay. However, to judge a congregation correctly, you should refer to Article VII of the Augsburg Confession as it says, The Church is the congregation of saints [Psalm 149:1] in which the Gospel is purely taught, and the Sacraments are correctly administered. For the true unity of the Church, it is enough to agree about the doctrine of the Gospel and the administration of the Sacraments. It is not necessary that human traditions, that is, rites or ceremonies instituted by men, should be the same everywhere. As Paul says, “One Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all” (Ephesians 4:5–6). So, what’s most important in locating a church to attend is this, “the Gospel is purely taught and the Sacraments are correctly administered.” To assist you in locating a church to attend while you are traveling, check out one of these websites:

Or ask the pastor for assistance; he’d be happy to help you!
Presentation of the Augsburg Confession
This Sunday we will remember the day in 1530 (June 25) when the Reformers stood before Emperor Charles V in Augsburg (modern day Germany) and presented their statement of faith, the Augsburg Confession. We will remember their courageous testimony, even as we pledge ourselves to the truths of Holy Scripture that these confessions speak.

The sermon text can be found here.

Adult Bible Class – This Sunday we will take up Romans chapter 2. After condemning the pagan world for their idolatry (chapter 1), Paul turns the tables on the Jews. They too have broken God’s law. In passing judgment on another, they condemn themselves. Paul continues in these chapters to flesh out the problem of our human condition that extends to both Jew, Gentile, and barbarian.
