Men’s Bible Study Breakfast at Mount Calvary
Men’s Bible Study Breakfast will meet at 7:30 AM on Saturday, January 27 in the Evangelism Wing at Mount Calvary. Come enjoy a hearty breakfast cooked by a fellow member (free will donation of $5), and good conversation with your brothers in Christ. This month we continue our study on manliness as we look at the life of David. Join us as we strengthen our understanding in our God-given roles as men in our lives, church, and world. (Each month after the class is over, for those who wish to stay, some trustee projects may be available.) Please text your interest to (920) 918-7200.
Young Families Group at Mount Calvary Church
Young Families Group and the Young at Heart will meet Saturday, January 27 at 5:30 PM for a potluck (bring a dish or two to pass) and discussion-based study. After supper, the children will be excused to enjoy some organized playtime. We are continuing John Kleinig’s book “Wonderfully Made: A Protestant Theology of the Body.” In this book study we hope to dig into the deep mystery of our bodies, who made them, why they matter, and what they were made for. We will consider, along the way, how many (if not most) of the issues facing our modern Western culture are over the purpose, use, and importance of the body. We will learn to see our bodies how God sees them. Please text your interest to (920) 918-7200.

January 28 Worship & Adult Bible Class at Mount Calvary
This Sunday we begin the countdown to Lent. The title of our Sunday, “Septuagesima” comes from Latin word 70. Life isn’t just a random pile of days. Though we begin the trudge through Lent, we know that our Lord’s resurrection from death and His victory over sin and Satan is ahead. When days get long and troubles increase, we walk forward knowing that we walk not towards defeat, but eternal victory through our Lord, Jesus Christ. This Sunday we will hear of the Parable of the Workers in the Vineyard from Matthew 20:1-16. All of the workers work different amounts, but they are all paid a days’ wage. Because of this some feel that they were treated unfairly. Do we grumble against God when our life does not go as planned or we feel that He has shortchanged us? Our Lord aims to set our minds and hearts back on true ways of thinking and believing. He is gracious, loves us dearly, and gives us good work to do in His vineyard. You may prepare by reading the Propers of the day.
Old Testament: Daniel 9:2-10
Psalm: Psalm 95:1-9
Epistle: 1 Corinthians 9:24-27 – 1 Corinthians 10:1-4
Gospel: Matthew 20:1-16
Join us for Adult Bible Class in the Evangelism Wing after the worship service. This week we will study Romans chapter 15 where Paul begins to close his letter to the saints in Rome with final admonitions about his hope for a future visit and his desire that they bear one another’s burdens and live as Christians.
