What’s going on @ Mount Calvary Lutheran Church this week?
The monthly Wednesday Morning Service with Holy Communion will be offered on Wednesday, August 16 at 11:00 AM. Join us if you are homebound, immuno-compromised, would like to bring a friend, neighbor, or shut-in who can’t get to church at the normal time OR just want to come! Please contact the Mount Calvary Lutheran Church office if you need transportation to the service. Piano liturgy with one sung hymn will round out this 40-minute service.
All parents in the congregation are invited to attend a Jump Start and Confirmation information session which will take place on Sunday, August 27 after Bible Class in the Evangelism Wing. Learn more about our Jump Start and Confirmation Programs here at Mount Calvary. Jump Start will begin on Thursday, September 7 at 6:30 PM, and Confirmation Class will begin on Sunday, September 24. (Jump Start is an online 35-minute group lesson where children recite a memory assignment, sing a catechism hymn, and have a short lesson on part of the catechism. Any child around age 3rd grade and above are welcome to attend this class based on each parent’s discretion. Confirmation is an in person one-year class which children enter typically after 2 years of Jump Start.)
The Tenth Sunday after Trinity
We gather this Sunday to hear Jesus weeping over Jerusalem and observe His cleansing of the temple. Jesus cleanses the temple that it might be a fit place for His preaching and dwelling. May the Lord cleanse our hearts and remove all that offends, that we might be a fit dwelling for His Word and presence.
O’er Jerusalem Thou weepest
In compassion, dearest Lord,
Love divine, of love the deepest,
O’er Thine erring Israel poured,
Crieth out in bitter moan:
“O loved city, hadst thou known
This thy day of visitation,
Thou wouldst not reject salvation.”

Sunday Adult Bible Class at Mount Calvary Church
Adult Bible Class – After considering original sin which all mankind has inherited, Paul continues in Romans chapter 6 to speak of the new life that we have in Christ. Do we continue in sin because we are born in sin? We do not. Such would be to deny what we have received in our Baptism. An audio recording of this class is available:
